Revenue Investigation into Trusts and Offshore Structures

Revenue announced the commencement of an investigation into Trusts and Offshore Structures. A press release is on the Revenue website.
The investigation will commence on 1st September 2009 and will focus on persons who have tax issues in relation to the use of trusts and offshore structures.
Persons with undeclared tax liabilities in respect of these trusts and structures may avail of the benefits of qualifying disclosure by:

  • Delivering a Notice of Intention on or before 1st September 2009 and
  • Disclosing and Paying the undeclared liabilities on or before 31st October 2009

Persons who are already under enquiry or who come within certain excluded categories are precluded from making a qualifying disclosure. Full details are available on the Revenue website.
